Acne and Scars

Acne occurs when hair follicles get clogged with skin oils and dead skin cells. This blockage fuels bacteria and inflammation that form pimples that can later leave scars in sensitive places. Even when acne occurred early in life with hormonal changes in puberty, these acne scars can still be restored.

The body tries to repair its own acne scars by producing extra collagen. If the body produces too much collagen, a thick scan can form. If the body forms too little collagen, it may leave pits or depressions in the skin.

These little punctures stimulate your body to naturally produce more collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid to fill in the scar and smooth over your skin. Raised scars need different treatments, however.
